What is the difference between a MonoKey and MonoLock case? (Click to view answer)
Simply stated,
the MonoKey series is the top of the line series with a more substantial mount,
more features, and better quality construction. MonoKey mounts are sold seperately.
The MonoLock cases are generally a smaller and
lighter top case with a smaller mount and lock up. Consider MonoLock cases
for "light duty" applications. MonoLock cases are sold with a universal
mount included.
To help you make an informed decision about your
top case selection, take a look at the photos below and compare these typical
cases and mounts side by side.

I have
aftermarket accessories, can I still mount GIVI cases? (Click
to view answer)
Our hardware is
designed to mount onto a stock bike. Most aftermarket products will use the
same mounting points so some conflict may occur with backrests, sissy bars,
and exhaust pipes.
You will probably have to choose which product you most desire on your bike..
Will
I have to modify my bike? (Click

The majority of
bikes need no modification; slight modification is required on a select few.
No modification is required on any bodywork.
Will
I need to replace my stock turn signals? (Click

Yes, unless your
turn signals are integrated into the rear of your bike like the Honda VFR800

What
is Monokey? (Click
to view answer)
Monokey is the
patented locking system GIVI uses. One key can be used to lock/unlock the case
and remove it from the mounts with the added option of matching all GIVI cases
on your bike to the same key. It is also the name used for GIVI's premiere series
of cases.
What
is the difference between Monokey and Monolock cases? (Click
to view answer)
Monokey and Monolock
cases attach differently to their top plates. Monokey cases are interchangeable
and can be used as top or side cases. Monolock cases are designed as top cases
only, they cannot be used as side cases. Monolock cases come with their own
universal mounting hardware/plate which is not interchangeable with the Monokey
series mounts. Monolock cases are intended to be scooter cases but can be fitted
to a MonoKey mount with the purchase of a special adapter.
What
is the difference between Monorack and Wingrack hardware? (Click
to view answer)
The Monorack is
for mounting a GIVI top case only and is designed for the particular bike it
is being mounted to. The Wingrack enables you to mount side cases and/or a 3
case set-up (top and sides together). You can also use a top case only and leave
the side cases off. Wingracks are generic and adjustable. It attaches to the
bike with a "Y" mount which is model specific. The purchase of a "Y"
mount is required to use the Wingrack.
What
is the difference between N Series Wingrack & E Wingrack? (Click
to view answer)
The difference
between the N… series Wingrack and the E… series Wingrack is appearance.
The N… is sportier in style and is the 2nd generation of wing rack. The
E… looks more streamlined and less chunky. Although they look different
both Wingracks have the same strength and stability.
Wingrack
or Tubular mounts? (Click
to view answer)
The Wingrack system
is a generic mount that has the ability of being transferred to another bike
model (subject to specific motorcycle model mounting hardware availability).
The Tubular brackets are designed to mount on one model only and cannot be transferred
to another bike, but are considered less obtrusive when the cases are not attached
to the hardware. Tubular mounts are indicated by a "PL" part number.
Both systems have the same stability, as they generally use the same mounting
points. If using the Wingrack side-frames to mount just side cases with no top
case we will suggest that a bridging kit is installed in order to generate extra
stability.
Is the
hardware detachable? (Click
to view answer)
The hardware is
designed to be a permanent attachment, but it can be removed relatively easily
if you want to. (Remember to keep the instructions for re-installing your hardware!)
If I
mount hardware for 2 side cases now, can I add a top case later? (Click
to view answer)
Yes, with the
majority of bikes you can add a top case at a later date by purchasing top case
hardware.
What
are the cases made of? What type of paint is used? (Click
to view answer)
The cases are
made of a durable plastic Polypropylene. Acrylic paint is used for the gloss
finished cases.
How
far will the cases stick out? (Click
to view answer)
The cases vary
in depth from 7" to 12". If you purchase the largest cases you will
be adding over a foot to each side of the bike. Also consider that the hardware
itself will be mounted approximately ½ inch from the rear bodywork.
Tell
me about GIVI windshields? (Click
to view answer)
GIVI replacement
shields are generally 2 to 4 inches taller than regular stock shields thus generating
a wind deflection of an extra 6 to 8 inches over the stock shield. All replacement
shields come in a light-smoke tint and are manufactured using Plexiglas-acrylic.
The majority of the universal shields are also light-smoke tint, but the Cruiser
style shields are available in clear only.
